Product Details

Sodium dodecyl sulfate, or SDS for short, is a classic anionic surfactant, well-known as a flagship representative of the sulfate-based surfactant family. It carries multiple industry aliases, including AS, K12, sodium coco-sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, and industrial foaming agent.

Typically, this non-toxic product is available commercially as a white to pale yellow crystalline powder. While it has only limited solubility in alcohol and cannot dissolve in chloroform or ether, it mixes extremely readily with water. This ingredient features excellent compatibility with both anionic and non-ionic chemical substances.

It delivers powerful performance across emulsification, foaming, wetting, cleaning and dispersion, generating rich lather while offering fast biodegradation properties. That being said, its water solubility is relatively weaker when measured against sodium fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sulfate (AES).
